Every customer at iOttie has their own story to tell, each with a different path to take. Regardless of their journey, what connects each of our patrons is a mobile device companion ready to assist in a flash.
Every Road Leads to iOttie for These Three Customers
Over the past few months, we have been getting to know some of these customers in a series called “iOttie Customer Story: Real People, Real Solutions.” Throughout this process, we have been enlightened by the broad spectrum of lives iOttie users lead. Mohamed, a NYC yellow taxi driver who makes his own schedule. Shiseido, owner of Mocobot Studios in Queens where he creates dynamic visuals for brands using a cinematic robot arm. Along with Islandie, a Patient Care Technician in the emergency room where timeliness is essential.
Travel is Part of the Human Experience
Although our customers have their own compelling stories, they are linked through motion. Travel is a part of human nature, whether curiosity or necessity. As a species, most of human existence has been associated with a nomadic lifestyle. We crave connection and interaction with different points of view. Some take this seriously, devoting their free time to exploration. However, many of our daily rituals are rooted in voyages. From a trip to the local bodega for coffee and a BEC to our daily work commute.
When this series began we wanted to get to know the people behind our product purchases. It was a simple plan that ended up providing us with a deeper understanding of what an established and secure travel accessory means to the human experience. So let’s take a look at each of the real iOttie customers that allowed us to peek into their daily drives and what a safe journey means to them.
A Yellow Cab Story
Before becoming a New York taxi driver, Mohamed worked in the restaurant industry where he was beholden to a strict schedule with arduous hours. Eventually, he decided to take the taxi cab examination, allowing him to create his own schedule.
While interviewing with our team, he expressed wanting to “be [his] own boss.” Driving an iconic yellow New York City taxi cab gives Mohamed this comfort. Over the past thirteen years, he has been able to satiate the human need to travel through daily expeditions with fellow city dwellers. He has gotten to explore his favorite multicultural hub, Manhattan, with a variety of passengers from tourists to A-list celebrities.
On average, Mohamed works “twelve hours a day” during the week. On the weekends, he ups that to fifteen. However, those hours are based on his own needs, meaning when emergencies arise he “can stop right there and go back home.”
No matter what happens, a day in Mohamed’s life means relying heavily on GPS to get to and from a slew of new destinations. The Easy One Touch 6 keeps his phone securely in place throughout long hours on the road in a position where travel is the job.
A Director’s Tale
A native New Yorker and owner of Mocobot Studios, Shiseido treks across Queens to Ridgewood every weekday. That culminates in “five round trips” per week. He uses the Velox Mini Qi2 to make his commute to work seamless, always confident in his phone’s ability to guide without battery loss due to a reputable charging mount.
Unlike Mohamed who has a job based in transportation, Shiseido’s mobility needs differ vastly. He relies on an uninterrupted ride to get to the studio on time where he can bring creative visions to life from behind the camera. Once at the studio, Shiseido has to quickly adapt to the ever-evolving life on set and requests from clients, making punctuality essential to the role.
As a creative, Shiseido values aestheticism in his work and personal life, he has no interest in “fumbling for wires” when driving and needs “something that will compliment the beautiful design” of his car. While the cinematic robot arm Shiseido uses to produce high-quality tabletop shots stays in the studio, part of an artistic mind’s process is inspiration which comes from on-the-go exploration.
Artists find their spark in everyday occurrences, learning from those around them. This goes hand-in-hand with the previously discussed need for human interaction and new experiences that come after a safe journey.
A Healthcare Hero’s Journey
Islandie decided to go into healthcare after seeing how nurses at the local hospital took care of her mother during an influx of trips to the doctor. She was motivated “seeing how the nurses took care of [her] mother.” A loved one with a medical condition can mean regular health check-ins and a positive experience can make all the difference in a patient’s outlook.
Now that Islandie is a Patient Care Technician in the emergency room, she gets to see the change in patients’ demeanor from the time they come in, to the moment they leave. That visual is “the most rewarding part of [her] job.” Every action Islandie takes as a caregiver directly impacts her patients, down to when she gets to work every day.
Being able to confidently get to the hospital on time is imperative in the world of healthcare. The iTap 3 has been Islandie’s ally over the last few months, providing a secure magnetic hold on her phone so she always knows where the next turn is located. Every trek to work is another day of helping patients and providing comfort to those in need.
